I know this isn't indicative of the larger population ie. City folk, but having moved back to the country recently has really made me face palm every time some Towny opens their mouth. Farmers are usually awesome btw I don't know why they vote the way they do though, however that's a whole different kettle of fish. But a lot of people here are just such sky news parrots, they don't believe what they say only that "man in suit said it not from government so must be smart".

Then sitting along side this, Australia is also the country that has rejected trump style politics the most at the voting booth. According to polling, in part because Australians don't like the racist platform of trump. Now, I used to consider casual racism in Australia a serious and important issue. I still don't like to see it around me and will try to do something when I do. But after that... well it certainly made me rethink things, and think that it's actually, probably, not as important an issue as I thought.
