I remember when I was a kid in the late 80's, the BBC put out a single 3-4 hour programme dedicated to and celebrating 80's music videos (including this one). Can't for the life of me remember the name of the programme, but I remember recording the entire thing on VHS and replaying it over and over. MTV wasn't really a thing in the UK at that time, so it was a novelty for me. R.I.P. Tom Petty, what a legend.
