Blackadder 2 Series Finale!

Blackadder 2 Series Finale!

Comments

Britain is much older than the Idea of England, The Britons fought the English invaders, Angles(Danes) and Saxons(Germans). Rome invaded Britain. obviously not the later rehash of a union of Britain though.

I think Miriam is one of those people who... Yeah, she's definitely a national treasure just for being THAT proudly outspoken as a lesbian in her 70s. But she also a bit of a cunt. She doesn't care who she offends. She just speaks her mind. And that's fine! (Or at least it used to be before "woke" was a thing!) And I love her completely, but there's no way in hell she wouldn't hate me. She especially hates adult Harry Potter fans who expect her to be Professor Sprout in real life and are not aware that they were just books and films and she was just the fat old woman who looked the most convincing in the costume on the day of casting.

45:00 - Okay, you asked: From what's left, in chronological order, you have - 1987 - Series 3. NO POST CREDIT SEQUENCES. 1988 - "The Cavalier Years", part of March's Comic Relief. No credits at all, so don't stress. 1988 - Christmas special "Blackadder's Christmas Carol". END OF CREDITS JOKE which answers a question from the first act - DO NOT SKIP. 1989 - Series 4 episodes 1 to 5 - No post credit sequences, but there are some slight jokes in the credits themselves. Probably just worth watching the first episode's credits, then skipping the rest. 1989 - Series 4 FINALE - DO NOT SKIP ANYTHING. 1999 - "Back and Forth" special - there are some mild jokes in the credits. Up to you if you want to wait for them. And then looping back to the beginning: 1983 - "The Black Adder" EVERY EPISODE except 2 ("Born to be King") has a post credits gag.

33:50 - Elizabeth I's father was legendary wife slayer and divorcee, King Henry VIII. Elizabeth was Henry's final surviving legitimate child after her younger brother Edward and older sister Mary (both former monarchs) had died. When Elizabeth herself died without any children (legendarily, she died an unmarried virgin rather than surrender any power to the patriarchy), her second cousin King James VI of Scotland got on his horse in Edinburgh and rode down to London to take the English throne. James VI of Scotland became the first King James of England - And yes, that's the very same King James of BIBLE FAME who wanted to bring Protestantism to the masses by commissioning the first ENGLISH Bible translation.

32:10 - Correct! That is Lee Cornes, Dick Head the barman of the Lamb and Flag! But with him is also Mark Arden, the fairground worker who Eddie shot in the eye, and later came back with Richie's stolen wallet and kicks Eddie in the bollocks!

Pinning down the history of Blackadder can be a fun but frustrating activity! I always found it funny that "Head" had the execution of Sir Francis Drake, even though in reality, from what I recall, he died of dysentery in Panama. III is the longest lasting one. Keeping it spoiler free, there are real-world events from 1755 (which would actually be impossible given one of the main characters wasn't even born until 1762!) up to 1815. Goes Forth is quite tricky to pin down, apart from a single explicit mention of the year, although one actual historic event which occurred in December 1917 is also referenced. It'd be easy to assume that the whole series took place in just a couple of months. Interestingly, most episodes of the first series are prefaced specifically with the year it takes place in, and the very intro to the first episode explicitly lays out the entire time span of the first series - although obviously due to its nature, almost everything we see is completely fictitious! :)

10:30 - I've been studying a lot of history recently, so hearing Blackadder ask for the British Ambassador before the creation of the Kingdom of Great Britain narks me a little!

VERY interesting to hear Stevie hates Miranda Richardson

Blackadder 2 is the Renaissance (and of course the Elizabethan era, 1558 to probably around 1585 - it’s all very vague and jumbled), so it’s post-medieval which ended around 1485 (ie the end of the Wars of Roses) - 1500 depending on who you ask and what criteria you use. Series 3 is the Regency (and more broadly the Georgian era, and more broadly the Enlightenment). 4 is 1916/17 possibly just 17 but can’t be earlier than 1916. In reality although 3 is vaguely between 1789 and 1805 - the Regency proper didn’t start until 1811, but the term Regency era is used from around 1795 until Victoria in 1837. Queenie is Miranda Richardson, have never heard anything bad about her There’s a 10 minute charity special the occurs chronologically between this series and series 3 called Blackadder the Cavalier Years, and then there’s Blackadder’s Christmas Carol between 3 and 4 and after 4 there was Blackadder’s Back and Forth which was made for the Millennium Dome when it opened in 2000

Kieran B

Although depending on their source the Christmas specials are sometimes separated from the series itself

Kieran B

As far as ofah goes, the specials start at the end of s5 so no worries until then

Nick Jarrett

with specials there’s blackadders Christmas carol which is after season 3, there’s also black adder back and fourth, which was 20 years later

You’re both going to love Hugh Laurie as the stupid Prince next series, so funny

James Ellison

Considering you watched the entire opening credits to Blackadder 3 and paused on some of the best jokes in this episode, I'm 100% sure that if you had missed the end credits scene ,you would be hounded off Youtube for good. 😂 (Great reaction though) With regards to Queenie, the actress Miranda Richardson is very much liked by everyone. You were thinking of Miriam Margoyles (the bigger lady that you might know as Professor Sprout from Harry Potter). I'm afraid I was the one doing a bit of badmouthing about her, in the comments of your last Blackadder reaction. I actually have a friend on Facebook who is very good friends with Margoyles, and i'm pretty sure he would never talk to me again if he read those comments 😂

Jay

Lol, i nearly had a panic attack at the start there. Glad you figured it out in time.

James Ellison

You've not missed any post credit scenes. I think there might be one on the last episode of series three.

Mac

You really need to watch season 1, my favourite. Rik Mayall is in the final Episode !!!

Smiffy

Oh you’re on the third series what happened 🤣. Sorted. Edmund in the box has so much comedy value . I’ve never ever noticed the decapitated head and I’ve watched this so many times. You are one of the most observant people ever Taylor or am I just not observant 🫣. The next series is brilliant. No I’ve never heard anything negative about Miranda Richardson (Queenie). Do you mean Miriam Margolyes? If it’s her she is very OTT but I don’t think she’s a bad person , just very outspoken and naughty . There is an excellent Christmas special , filmed after S3. Maybe save it for Christmas I watch it every Christmas Eve it’s so so good.

Erica

Black Adder the Third is the next season. You've got the wrong episode I think
