Hope you guys are doing good. Thanks for reacting to this. I'll check it out. Part of my family comes from Stirling. Though moved up to the Highlands, in the 18th century, where most of us live now. So this is interesting on a personal level too.

2025-09-27 15:25:17 +0000 UTCThe castle and the city it gets its name from is actually spelt ‘Stirling’. Sterling is the name of the British currency and a fairly popular English surname. Sterling is probably just an Anglicised version of the original name but it’s commonly and incorrectly applied to the city, probably because of the aforementioned official name of the British pound and the common surname.

2025-09-27 15:15:34 +0000 UTCWhat usually happens with historical remains is that they are reburied in consecrated ground. It's not too unusual to have a historical body pop up now and again. Also Dame Sue Black, the lead scientist in this, is incredible. She has been key in developing forensic technics to help identify people for things like natural disasters or war zones where it would otherwise be difficult to find their name and next of kin. She also developed a way to identify perpetrators based on the vein patterns on their hands in cases of child abuse imagery

They cover all the various elements of not only what goes into building a castle but the social and military history of life there too . It’s 5x 1 hour episodes
