we have got a lockable porch so the delivery people can put the stuff in there and we lock it and leave it sit there for a day (if it's cardboard boxes) before getting it inside and then unpack/ wash our hands. on stainless steel and plastics it survives up to 3 days!

Thanks for the share. Having experienced these conditions from day one in China, and now some two months in quarantine, I'll add two things to this advice and some of the comments. First, nothing is too over the top. Unfortunately this virus spread because no one took it seriously enough in the beginning, neither here, nor there, and opted to downplay it; and now it's come to this. Nothing you do to keep yourself safe and prevent the spread is too outlandish. We've already seen the catastrophic results of not doing so. Remember, we have to be the ones who look after our best interests! Always wear the mask, wash your hands, use the sanitizer, and stay home -- all the stuff they tell you. It's a small sacrifice for the next several weeks. It's what's worked to contain the virus here and it'll work everywhere else. For anyone that's active on LinkedIn, there've been some great articles and uplifting messages from many of us. I just posted about taking care of masks--reusable ones--considering shortages, etc. Second, for anyone freaked out about staying in or social distancing or whatever, as someone who's been locked in since what seems like forever now, with little contact with the outside world, I can tell you it's no big deal. 20 or 30 years ago, yeah maybe, but now with all of the availability for working online, communicating, etc. it's easily manageable. The extra time we get to ourselves--think about how valuable that is. How often are we complaining there's never enough time in our day... to do whatever. Now there is. I can easily work 10 hours in a day and have time to study or research or pursue my own projects. Most important thing is if you let this bother you, it'll bother you, but change your mindset and view it as a positive -- a reprieve from the daily grind, and you'll find ways to be more productive and gain more personally and professionally! There's precedent for this and we've beat it before. We'll do it again! Stay strong and stay positive. Cheers!
