Hey Laowinners!
Ironically, since my wu mao video, ADVChina, Winston and I have all experienced much higher levels of wu mao attacks. Including us getting posts removed today. I have been getting alerts that people are trying to log into my accounts from strange IPs, and my Instagram posts (http://instagram.com/laowhy86) have been getting mass flagged by jumbled and random Chinese users.
They started by spamming Chinese messages like, I hope you and your wife and daughter die, you don't know anything about our awesome government etc...

But now they have started posting after using Baidu translate, which makes for some hilarious stuff. However, as funny as these things are, I am getting more and more concerned for not only the ability for Chinese people in China to be able to say whatever they want, but even more for the influence they are having abroad.

What's happening, is that the Chinese government, and wu maos etc. are using the freedoms, and tools that are available on the free, western internet, and using those tools for promotion of the CCP, whitewashing of actual issues happening in China, and also to report and flag actual, factual content that is coming from outside of China.
Instagram, YouTube, and other social media will take people's word for it if someone flags something as inappropriate, violent, or against community guidelines, so what happens is, 100s if not thousands of people will flag something until it rings the warning bells of the social media moderators. I reckon if my channel, instagram, and other social media was unrelated to China, the rampant demonetizations, flagging, removal of posts would not happen.
YouTube gives you the benefit of being able to dispute things, but more often than not, they will err on the side of caution when something is reported.
I'm not worried for myself. I'm just one example. If I lose some money each month from being harassed by paid government bullies, it's on me. But what happens when people in free countries can't even post a Winnie the Pooh meme without getting into trouble? What happens when Chinese students who study abroad are not held accountable their actions and words in a free country upon returning home? What happens when the Chinese government increases its influence in Universities and what can be taught or done in something that it has funded? What happens when their families in China are liable for what they say or do? What happens when slowly, the government finds a way to increase influence by writing the guidelines on supposedly open forms of social media under the guise of "discrimination"?
Freedom of speech and expression and it's slowly progressing limitation is going to have a much bigger impact on the free world than unbanning Rhino horns (as awful as that is )

I feel like it's already happening, and more and more people need to talk about it.
With all of that said, it's you guys that make all of this possible. I am just a dude trying to educate, share my videos (whether they be happy, sad, fun, positive, or negative), and live my life.
I appreciate each and every one of you.
