Vivi's parents have been having fun with the kids, and there is a lot more happiness around the house than frustration. I thought we'd run into the old problems that annoyed each other in China, but they seem to be adjusting well and helping out a lot!
In today's early release, click here - https://youtu.be/WDuy7mBzCEk we discuss the current phenomenon of exit bans. We know a few people that have fallen prey to this alarming trend. It has become so prevalent recently that the US government even put out a travel advisory because of this. The travel advisory system is a bit overkill on their warnings usually, but now is particularly a sensitive time to be any sort of westerner in China that isn't just a tourist.
Our friend who helped us with Conquering Northern China is currently a political prisoner, and we've completely lost contact with him. He ran a travel company for years, and now is being held as a spy, as political fodder for the Huawei case in Canada. The little information that I've received says he's somewhere in the north, gets interrogated 6 hours a day, with 24 hour lights on his face.
It's a very weird time... and it's even weirder to see how fast this scary reciprocity is being enacted.
