China's "Feeding" Problem

The video above is a horrible and extreme example of an issue currently in China. This kids parents should be in jail, but anyway.
With parents going off to work, and grandparents raising young children, there is an issue with the mentality of the grandparents.
Grandparents grew up during famine, and very difficult times, which instilled a sense of "eat when there is food" into them forever.
This, paired with how cheap food has become is creating a fat kid epidemic in China. Grandparents feed the kids constantly, especially the boys, and fat camps are springing up all over the country. This is very interesting to see, because I was shocked at how few overweight people there were back in 2008, but saw my younger students putting on weight over the years. They would come to class, dropped off by their grandparents, with snacks in hand.
Lucia turned 3 months old, and all the weight is going to her cheeks!

that video made me so sad as that boy has no idea the damage he is doing to his body. that is so sad.

2019-04-17 01:28:47 +0000 UTCi am guessing that the quality of food is getting better as well... Both my wife and nephey have put on weight since coming to australia due to quality of food... That and they eat till they finish, not till they are full...
