Hey Laowinners!
I have been getting a lot of messages about our relatives in Hong Kong.
Many of you might be aware that my (Vivi's) Hong Kong cousins, Wing and Stanley have been on my channel quite a bit in the past.

They are currently incredibly distraught at what is happening to their country, and have been forced to not be active on social media due to constraints and pressure from authorities.
Wing is making plans (with a heavy heart) to leave Hong Kong if she gets a chance. Stanley is very concerned that the future of his home will be fully under Chinese control.
You can imagine, for instance, if you grew up in the UK, and all of the sudden Russia showed up on your doorstep and told you that everything that you knew and loved was about to be changed for a controlled and oppressive way of life. Censorship, change in education, arbitrary law (or lack thereof), oppression in society and work...
My heart goes out to them, and everyone that is affected by this uncertain future and police state that is quickly forming in the beautiful territory of Hong Kong.
There is news that Carrie Lam will remove the extradition bill, and many people are celebrating for Hong Kong. However, it's not over. The bill won't be discussed until October, and I firmly believe that Beijing is trying to calm down protesters for the 70th anniversary of the CCP on October 1st. Continued protests would be a massive loss of face for the Chinese government. Even if the bill is cancelled, this would only be 1 of the 5 demands that people are fighting for, with the most important being universal suffrage.

Thank you all for your support.
