My replacement cable arrived today and I can confirm that the file I downloaded does play all the way through with DeoVR so it must've been an issue with Potplayer. Sorry to have bothered you :)

2021-09-14 11:04:50 +0000 UTCI just testet with 2D player either, I'm using MPC BE x64. MPC HC is fine too, but doesn't has the timeline preview feature.

I can't play anything in VR at the moment because my headset's cable is damaged (a new one is on the way) so I was just using my usual desktop video player - it's probably not used to handling such big video files!
