[K-Drama] It's Okay to Not Be Okay - Episode 16 (FINAL)

Here we are... empty cans like Munyeong, healing capabilities of Sangtae and new found love of Gangtae. Honestly, no - I'm just an empty can...

my god, what a show. I honestly had no clue what I was in for over the course of almost 6-8 episodes at the beginning, but this was a ride. Sangtae grew on me so so so so so much, I can't say it often enough. That actor straight up made it into my top 5 fav actors. Seo Ye Ji and Kim Soo Hyun were also amazing and although I had some smaller moments of feeling pissed off, it was supposed to be like that.
Kudos to the writers of this show, that was fantastic. I'm also still shocked by the mother.. like, what was her whole plan? It was so flawed and crazy. I honestly thought she would be smarter / more methodical. But that shows, that she's just a powerhungry(?) psycho that uses people to her advantage. I feel really really bad for Gangtae & Sangtae's mother, she did NOT deserve such a stupid death. She was literally doing god's work with caring for two boys alone, one of which disabled (he is, right? or how do you call that? -- sorry if that's the wrong term).

This show ended up being a show I cry to, a show I am almost scared to watch because I knew how much emotional investment I had in it and how much of a wreck I would be after almost every episode I watched. I don't know when I became THIS invested in the show, but you guys might know - you watched me do it hahaha.

Let me know your final thoughts in the comment section down below and let's talk about this a bit. I am open to anything and I just wanna share the emotions (happiness and sadness) this show gave all of us. What a masterpiece.

Oh yeah, I definitely felt those two things as well. I was kinda "disappointed" in the mother as a villain, it felt a bit meh? But I could overlook it because it turns out she was never really an important part of why I found this story to be so beautiful. It was all about the overall and general healing proccess of the three MCs; the mother was part of that, sure, and her character could have been more convincing but oh well, I focussed on the three MCs again shortly after and didn't bother much. Also the way the mother got handled by the hospital director was chef's kiss. As for the Munyeong decision.. I also felt like that was kinda stupid. Like.. the mother was like "I achieved my goal and splti them apart" but she barely did anything and it felt like they just did that plot twist of Munyeong giving up almost as a final test for Gangtae if he was actually ready to commit or would run away again. A BIT unnecessary I agree, but I also liked it in some way. Overall: the mother was very very annoying yet not strongly enough represented when it came down to the wire, so that's a minus point for sure. For me that wasn't enough to deter from the beautiful harmony between the three MCs for me though, which was the main thing I loved so much here. I definitely get if that didn't work for you though

I wanted more drama between Munyeong's mother and main characters when they all were in the castle. And I remember being dissapointed when Munyeong started that we-can't-be-together thing

I'm kinda shocked it's about to win but then I saw it's literally #6 in popularity on MDL so I guess it's just hyper popular. I don't know why that is yet, but let's see!

Wow 8.5 initially? That's not the highest actually! I see it though. I think this drama has potential to be anything between 8.0 and 10.0, just really depends on how much you get affected by the emotions and the acting. If you don't at all, I can even see how people drop this show. But for me it worked wonders, especially deeper and deeper into the show. Now I'm intrigued though, why did you feel like episode 14 & 15 were dry/boring at first?

Ohhh right, the scarf. I forgot about that part completely. Thank you, this recalled all of the lost things for me haha

Soon it's gonna be time for the next kdrama that I've also watched (if W wins), but it was almost 5 years ago, so there're lot's of details I don't remember now. That's why I think it will be really fun and interesting to watch it with you!

So, what can I say about this kdrama overall? I enjoyed it a lot. It is so well-written and actors were perfectly selected for their roles. I can't say that I liked one or two actors more than the others, because all of them were good to me equally. My initial rating was 8.5 when I watched it on my own. You said that you almost had a thought of giving it up after like 4th or 5th episode. I had quite the opposite. It started off very well to me, but I think those were episodes 14 and 15 where I was getting bored a bit. Probably there was a lack of some dynamics to me. However, after watching it the second time with you I will uprate it to 9.0, because I changed the way I looked at some moments in this drama and it's thanks to you in some cases :) By the way, now it's understandable why you downrated Flower of Evil, because when you wrote about it on discord, right before posting your reactions, I was shocked a bit. Thank you for your reaction. I really enjoyed watching it along with you :3

You almost recalled everything about that woman with a scarf, but let me get this clear to you. So, yeah, she was a patient of OK hospital and she was wearing a fur coat and wanted to arrange a meeting between Gangtae and her daughter, who she thought was alive in her mind, but the truth was that she was hit by the car after she had a fight with her mother because of buying such an expensive coat to her.
