[K-Drama] W: Two Worlds - Episode 16 (FINAL)

And here we are! The last episode of W: Two Worlds. I have to say that the actor for Oh Seong Moo / the killer is the star of the show for me. He was great in both ways and the one scene where he acted out both characters in the span of seconds (in the house with Yeonjoo a few episodes back) was my fav scene of this whole drama.

Overall a 7.0/10, maybe debatable for a 7.5/10 for me. Nothing outstanding, but good fun. Thanks for watching it with me and remember to vote in the next poll (runs til tomorrow!)

Yeah... I have quite the opposite take on the first 6 or 7 episodes. Really liked them and It felt to me that the writers knew exactly what they were doing. Problems started only to appear after the mid season point and became stronger for the last third of the show, where episodes felt stretched thin and often like a repeat of old ideas without any new spin. As if the writers didn't know how to fill the rest of the season after the "rules" of the setting were established and how to resolve the "murder mystery" in an exiting or surprising way.

I agree with you on the show loosing steam a bit at the end. I'd also say that the beginning of the show was quite similar, in a way that the writers didn't seem to know what they want themselves until episode 6 or 7 or so. But that's just my personal take, if I remember correctly, you quite enjoyed the beginning :P

I gave W a 8 in the end. I really loved the creativity of the scenario, the banter between the main leads and all the fun twists and turns discovering the rules this world. For me it lost a lot of steam in the last third of the season and felt stretched to thin. They only kept repeating old ideas and it lost me in the end because of that. I think the show would have been better with less episodes.

Hm, that's a good point actually. I forgot he got stuck there for a year along with Kang Chul, so he actually became a cartoon character. I got you here. Anyways, the screenwriter wanted some drama and she did it lol

But wasn't that exactly what happened after the killer died? Oh Seong Moo became a cartoon character. That's why he faded as well and he ended up dying as a cartoon character that lost his purpose (because he never had one, he was not supposed to be there). I thought he got so sucked into the story (due to being the killer's face) that he became a character himself. He seemed like his character was the killer but with a split personality - primarily controlled by Oh Seong Moo but sometiems the killer. So actually drawing it as a dream for either Kang Chul or the killer (& Oh Seong Moo) would work maybe? I just was irritated that they never even thought about it or talked about it. Maybe they don't try because they're scared, but not even considering it as someone being very desperate irritated me so much.

Damn, I initially rated this show 9.5 on MDL. I just remembered like the first half of the show, which was freaking amazing imo and I was a huge fan of Lee Jong Suk back then, so I decided to rate it that high. After rewatching it along with you 5 years after, I can definitely tell this kdrama's fallen off my top-10 pedestal. I didn't change my opinion about the first 12 episodes of W. The idea of this show itself was pretty unusual with some great plot twists and romantic scenes were on point. But the last episodes were full of unnecessary drama, which was too long and at times boring and even irritating. The fact Oh Seong Moo died was a bit dissapointing to me and I do understand why you were so pissed off about it. But I don't think drawing it all as a dream again would ever came up to mcs' minds, because it didn't turn out well the first time and Oh Seong Moo isn't a cartoon character who can just forget everything if you draw it. In my opinion, it is unlikely they could do anything to save his mental state. The only thing could help is if the screenwriter Song Jae Jung didn't make Yeon Joo's father mentally unstable after returning his face back. I still don't understand what it was for. Now I give this show 8.0. I still love the cast a lot and there were only the last episodes I didn't enjoy much. It was actually good overall, just not as great as I thought back then. P.S. probably another fantasy kdrama is waiting for your reaction xD
