They're just friends...

I sat next to these two ladies who were friends from work. They were arguing over who was gonna pay the bill. The same way I've seen some mothers and daughters argue in the checkout line at the grocery store. Learning to set boundaries with parents is hard and enforcing them is impossible without hurting their feelings. Anyway, I was vibing and I cant stand the sound of two women obviously in love with each other but unable to articulate it in any way other than arguing over inconsequential things. So I finally asked, "what does it mean for one of you to pay?" And one lady said "she always pays and she paid last time" and then I said "well the money is secondary to the experience you're having together" and the other woman agreed. I quickly countered my own argument though and said "and it makes sense why she'd be upset you're preventing her from experiencing the joy of paying for a friend". They kept arguing and finally I said, in my most (causing elderly closet lesbians bisexual panic way)...if you continue arguing im gonna pay for it.

They both laughed and then I said how about you both pay. One pays for the ticket and one does the tip, but pay the same amount for both.

They stared at me. Laughed. And someone's getting a good tip tonight. See you all on twitch later.
