The Names We Wear

In the garden of minds, where labels grow wild, Rooted deep in the soil of societal smiles, There blooms a peculiar, defining rose That whispers of woes only the named knows.

"Control," they say, with a stroke of a pen, A word, a label, again and again. A tag hung heavy on a soul’s attire, Dimming the light of innermost fire.

But what’s in a name, a diagnostic decree? Does it tell of the heart, the you, the me? Or does it bind us in invisible chains, Lost in a maze of psychological games?

We dance in a masquerade of unseen masks, Performing the tasks that conformity asks. "Normal," "Abnormal," the judgements rain, Forgetting we’re players in the very same game.

In the hall of mirrors, what reflection do we find? Is it ours, or a construct of another’s mind? For every label cast, a mirror cracks, Revealing the infinite complexities it lacks.

So, let us step back from the precipice of names, Unravel the games, the societal frames. Remembering that beneath the diagnostic guise, Lies a universe within each pair of eyes.

Control, a game of subtle power and play, But who holds the strings, what do they say? Are we but puppets in a grand design, Or can we redefine the boundary line?

In the embrace of ambiguity, we might find, A deeper understanding, a more compassionate mind. For in the space between the named and the namer, Lies the potential for change, a flickering flame, a claimer.

Let us not be defined by the games we are taught, But seek the truths within, the battles fought. For in the end, it's not the labels that dictate, But the stories we write, the love we create.
