Dark Oil - Broken Up: Ep. 11

Do you remember that oil service I mentioned like 5 episodes ago then did nothing about. Well a few hundred miles, many thousands of revs and railing up the highest peak in Italy later it's now that time.
I am driving all those miles home after all, and once my bank card gets melted from Mercedes-Benz and a gaunt through Italian Halfords, I have what I need t get the job done. Or do I?
Still, not a bad spot for a make-shift service centre!

I hope you enjoy.

Great video CJ, glad you met the family at the side of you and it gave you those social skills back, very true there's good and bad people in this world if you meet the good people that's great, stay safe and well CJ and Lance.

I used to get customers bring in their own mineral oil because of what they had read on the internet, crazy.

Yup, when you hear someone(and I do not care who they are) insisting your engine 'needs' mineral oil your best course of action is to stick your thumbs in your ears runing away whilst shouting Lalalalalalal... The oils we have today are so much better compared to when these vehicles where made. Stick to the viscosity(ambient temperatur dependent to a certain degree) specified in your manual but do not hesitate to go higher in the numbers on older vehicles as all the tolerances increase with milage/hours run. One source of information I would trust here on the tube is 'The Motor Oil Geek', check his resume. Another go to would be the forum 'Bobishteoilguy', cheesy name but serious people onboard. As for me, 60+ machine engineer with racing experience.

Never get tired of seeing scenery like that , thanks for sharing it again, absolutely stunning. Strange how people react when doing repairs in a car park. Once had to remove a damaged, oil soaked underway in the middle of france at a service station. Up to my armpits in old oil. People were hiding their children. How's the brakes n clutch holding up. Hope you made Mr Clooney a coffee. Cheers. Daz.

Darren Swaby

To be fair I had no issue and seemed to be first to watch.

Chas House

I am surprised main dealers still have mineral oil, I know at VW we were sticking synthetic in everything for the last ten years.

Chris Pattinson

The classic Italian speed boat is the Riva Aquarama. That bloke in the speedo's did look proper creepy, he looked at you like you were a potential meat locker. Good job on the vid as always CJ!!
