26. An Abandoned Village

My Urbex senses have once again been tingling, so Lance & I made tracks to a location I've been meaning to explore for a good while.
Tucked into the hills is a village that seemingly everyone has forgotten about.
Yet it's fields are tended, there are street lamps & power on despite no actual roads, and the age/condition of buildings vary dramatically.
One building of which was my main aim, a house, the most intact in the village and inside was a treasure trove of history and time capsules, I could have spent all day in there, even with the dodgy floors!

Slightly different one this week, but I love this stuff and hope you enjoy as much as I did.

You'll definitely be living there one day i reckon 🤔

Thank you for taking us on your expedition. 🙂 I can imagine that it once was a very beautiful village.

I thought you might have taken the coffee pot and tried to do a restoration project like one of Mr Pollard's. 😂

I wonder if it was abandoned because of a rural wild fire, or earthquake. It seems to have been abandoned quite quickly. Portugal also had a fairly violent history with dictatorships, up to the late 70's. That might be something also to look into. Very interesting though. This was a backtrack to the old days, you and Lance exploring places. Nice to see you've not lost your curiosity, although you've matured and recognised your mortality! There was a time you'd have just plunged in! ;) Thank you for sharing it.

What an amazing place, thank you for showing it to us!!!! As you say it is so sad these places have become abandoned for the simple reason of no work mostly. A lot of work but I reckon you could fix up that house over time. If you could what an amazing place to live. So those street lights are still live then? If so you could pitch up and tap in for free power. 😉😊
