Sunday Art Post

Hello there

I can't remember if I told you or not, but I did actually have a Halloween art post in mind for today.  You know, what with it being Halloween?

I made a planned Haunted Mansion collage, which I was (and still am) intending to do.  It's sort of in the style of the ParaPod/Ghostbusters art pieces I did, but you may remember that each one of those took me several solid days to put together.  This week, I've not really had either the time nor the stamina to commit to that, so I'm gonna start it and do it casually for however long it takes.  I'm not ultra confident with the design even, and it fills every inch of the canvas, so I've taken the pressure off there.

However, by way of replacement, I've done a piece that has nothing to do with ghosts and all that stuff, which is what we should all be aiming for with our lives anyway.  It's a triumvirate portrait that I took a snap of during a late night viewing of The Office the other evening, which I thought would be a potentially nice piece. It's podium during the closing ceremony of the Scranton Olympics.

Speaking of pressure though, it is one of those ones where I had to get three very precise likenesses on the page, and messing up any of them would have knackered the whole thing.  Additionally it's also one of those ones where the amount of space I had to get those likenesses into was absolutely borderline for detailing.  I really do prefer to have more room to work than a few inches square, but I couldn't make the composition any bigger without it pushing off the page.  You'll see what I mean...

Shall we see how I got on with my non-Halloween post?  In my defence I am off to Birmingham MAC in a bit for a Halloween screening extravaganza of The ParaPod - A Very British Ghost Hunt, so we can't say I'm completely ignoring it...if you still want to pop over for it I reckon you'd get in with all the returns.  Maybe call the venue to check first though.

And that, what feels like rather brief zoom through the work (Dwight's clothes were an absolute pain), leaves us wiiiiiiith...

Think it's alright.  Not amazing, but it passes.  I might try and find some other bits from The Office to draw, they're quite pleasing to try to capture.
