Hello there
Today we set a new personal best on the drawing front, where I go for a staggering FIVE likenesses in one composition.
It's sort of difficult to fully get across quite how stressful this is. It's in pen you see. So if I get - for example - likeness number four wrong, I lose the lot. It's just a lot of concentration and the pressure increases with each one. Even with my legendary nerves of steel.
So today, I am showing you just the likenesses I got down. Basically five faces (and even they aren't complete - just once the basic likeness was there I moved on to the next one). This took seven hours and it really doesn't look like it did. The rest of the composition will be a breeze (comparatively speaking), as it doesn't really matter if I make any little mistakes. Anything that isn't faces is usually repairable/amendable.
I feel like I could have made this more exciting by dropping in an element of doubt. Like, did he or didn't he manage it? I'm too tired though. I did manage it, have a headache now, and here's the progress pics and where I'm up to. I'll finish it off this week at some point and you can see the rest then.
Actually, first, I'll show you a bit of behind the scenes from the prep...
As I've mentioned before, I don't really like to use images that are completely real from the things I draw from. So I tend to merge pics together, like a different facial expression or whatever, and here's where I altered the focal image (the main reason I did this was because I wanted to include more body in it and dynamic pose, and the facial image was a close up in the movie)...

There's an argument I could just do this whilst I'm drawing it, but there would be a very good chance of me doing the head out of all proportion then. Like in picture 3 of that one...
Anyway, here's the drawing bit of it...

That was enough likeness down to move onto the next one. It's obviously not completely finished. So, one down...

Two down. Again, don't need to go silly detailed in case I mess up any of the rest of them (I don't).

Did you hear those horses whinnie then??

Three down...the most difficult three as well I think...
Still had to fight being complacent for the next two...

FOUR DOWN! WILL HE MANAGE IT????
(yes)

There we go FIVE DOWN AND SET.
It's obviously going to end up being a print innit? And I'm deffo gonna work on more compositions like this, given how the Ghostbusters ones and the Willy Wonka one turned out. And this one, hopefully too.
Here's where we are up to...

Think it's gonna be a lovely one.
Oh, it's Young Frankenstein by the way. I was being a bit presumptious that everyone would know it.
Hope your week is all going well so far, and if you're back to work then deep breaths please.
Lots of love from here
