Sunday Art Post (Young Frankenstein Concluded)

Hello there

After the starting likenesses I showed you the other day, I can now show you the finished thing (and the progress).

The progress I've pared right down, because without exaggeration this is the longest it's ever taken me to fill a sheet of A4 paper.  I as getting a bit confused because I was working at exactly the same pace as when I did the Willy Wonka piece, and that took me a day.  This has been may, many hours, every day this week since starting it.  I still have the headache.  I'll come back to the Wonka comparison after I've shown you the pics though...

Which are coming up right now...

(just look at quite how many dots there are, even by my standards)

And we mercifully conclude with...

Clap clap clap.

Now, I had envisaged this as a companion piece for the Willy Wonka one, but it transpires the only thing they have in common is they both contain Gene Wilder. The compositions themselves are actually stylistically different (I like them both, but the YF one is significantly more detailed than the more stylised WW one).

Here's a side by side;

It's not that they can't go together but do you see what I mean? The background especially on the WW one is far more comic book than the background on YF.

I'm still getting them both printed for Etsy like.  And I'm going to have a think about what to draw next.  I actually desperately want to do some construction art, so this may well be the week that finally happens.

Oh and I mentioned in the Cabin Fever episode where I spoke about the YF piece, that I wanted to frame it with my autographs of Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder but there was an annoying issue with the Mel Brooks signature as it was over a title so couldn't be satisfactorily isolated in a mount.  Here's what I meant by that:

I am absolutely certain this has been done deliberately to prevent people from taking the signature out on its own.

Which is annoying.

Anyways, go on, go have yourself a lovely Sunday please.

Much love to you
