Girl Genius Comic for Wednesday, June 07, 2023

Today I'm fixing a birthday dinner for my Mom, so I don't have much else on my mind today.

Lately while I work I've been watching the entire catalog of youtube videos by Darling Dollz, a fashion doll collector who is an absolute delight. I've never been much into dolls of any kind, but I enjoy listening to people talk about what they love, and the world of fashion doll design and collecting is actually quite involved and that's interesting too. I think I went down this particular rabbit hole because there's a new release of the Monster High dolls so a lot of the youtubers are talking about them. The algorithm got me again!

So anyway today I'm living in the Sparkle Princess Magical Happy Birthday Playset world. There are actually a few of those events coming up, so I'd best get used to it.

I'll make time to put down the cake and get the colors posted when they arrive though.

Thanks all!

I still wanna know why he had black blood.

I do love the extra artwork in some of the books. More than worth the "price of admission" for book purchases! Wallpapers, give them to me... :D

Page count update: With this page, 121, this "short adventure" is now longer than nine volumes of the main story line. It exceeds volumes 1 (Beetleburg Clank, 81 pp.), 2 (Airship City, 100 pp.), 4 (Circus of Dreams, 114 pp.), 5 (Clockwork Princess, 104* pp.), 7 (Voice of the Castle, 117 pp.), 14 (Beast of the Rails, 120 pp.), 15 (City of Lightning, 120 pp.), 17 (Kings and Wizards, 120 pp.), and 18 (Queens and Pirates, 119 pp.) in page count. This is counting only pages of story in each specific volume, not extra material, such as additional artwork or side stories, that might be included. * Page count for volume 5 corrected from previous version of this list.

It seems pretty clear that the mallet-wielding student who tried to attack the Fun-MADD on the previous page is dead. You can see the mallet next to a pool of blood near the lower right corner of the first panel. Possibly part of the body is visible, too. Fortunately for the sake of Michael Bacon, who is reading this comic to his kids, this isn't too blatantly gory.
