The night grew later with no sign from Jack, eventually deciding to go to bed. It had been a busy day for her, and staying up late wasn’t going to help her. A few hours had passed since Katherine had gone to bed when Jack finally arrived. Entering the house, he noticed that all the lights were off and no one was around.
