(and what it's been like so far releasing the first single).
The first week for Crush went so much more exciting-ly (is that the right word??) than I could have anticipated!! We got 300k streams on spotify in the first week, and 600k views on youtube. What's been really striking to me is the outpouring of love around the song (on twitter and instagram). If you took the time to share or say anything nice about Crush, thank you so much, I feel very encouraged by you. Thank you so much for your outpouring of support, both with your words, and with your money here on Patreon. Your support has paid for a strategy team (who makes sure all assets are where they need to be and everything is running smoothly for launch), a publicist (my first ever time!), as well as budget for graphic designers for covers, and all budget things around video and photo work for the release. It's allowing freedom to make creative choices and I want to tell you how much I appreciate it!
I spent all day today running from one interview to another, this was (and is) my first time ever hiring a publicist and it is all at once very exciting and very overwhelming! Pictured is me at I Could Never Be (you can listen/watch it here if you want!) It's in my nature to spiral over what I said or didn't say, I don't have a lot of practice being on camera in this type of setting. Youtube is very low pressure because anything you have the cushion to edit anything you say to make it sound less clunky or repetitive but !! Trying to be more go with the flow so here's hoping I sounded insightful haha.
This week I'll be doing PR during the day, my first ever showcase (where you preform for music supervisors in hope to get a song synced in a movie), and in the evening filming collabs and other video content for the record! This is my last week in LA before flying home for a week, then to Missoula Montana to do some PR with Hank Green's network of videos and podcasts.
I still owe you all a download for Crush! So sorry for the delay, Laura and I were both at Vidcon this week so we've been pretty MIA. We'll be getting that up this week as well as the original demo for Make Me a Robot!
Talk to you all soon! Hope you're doing well and thank you again!
