Patrons' Tutorial - #9 - Phrasing

Password: letstalkaboutmathrock

Hey all.

Here's your tutorial as part of your patronage for November.

It is about phrasing, specifically phrasing your own musical ideas.

I hope you'll find it useful, and please leave any comments and/or feedback below, thanks!

Great lesson! This idea of phrasing and subtly manipulating the same set of notes is also helpful for practicing rhythmic and tonal control (and your examples were a nice way of exercising this!). The electric guitar is capable of so much tonal variation, but I still often find myself practicing the same pieces of music in the same ways over and over. This video reminded me that the possibilities for experimentation are endless!

Hey, Richard. That's great. I'm glad it had something for you. I think the idea would sound cool. Just something a simple as swapping a bass drum and snare patten around can sound really cool.

Awesome video. I've been working on adding more variation within sections of my songs so these tips will come in handy. I've also been thinking about possibly having the guitar and bass switch their parts. Then music is still the same but the instrumentation changes.
