Gear Questions?

Comments

Hey, Paul. Good to hear from you. Not playing atm but have plans to probably starting next year. I'd probably just go direct using my pedal board through the PA for shows. Really depends if the venue had back line and if the amps were anygood haha

Hi Steve! Are you playing out these days; or do you plan to in the near future? If yes (or hopeful "maybe"), any idea as to the sort of gear you will use on stage? I am moving more towards silent stage & in ears, but curious as to your current thoughts. Cheers!

Haven't had a lot of experience with amps over the last few years. I've been using amp sim pedals such as the NUX solid studio, Strymon iridium, Walrus Audio AS1C, and now I use a universal audio Dream 65 pedal (a fender deluxe reverb sim pedal). On all those pedals I pretty much gravitated towards the fender setting hence why I ended up buying the Dream 65 haha. However, I really enjoyed the VOX AC30 settings on the other pedals as well as the marshall settings from time to time. All depends on the guitar, pickups, pedals I'm using etc.

What guitar and amp are you using? Might be able to give some suggestions based on that. Cheers.

Thanks for the suggestion!

What is your favorite kind of amplification?

They matter, but do what you can with whatever is in your price range. I've found that a lot of overdrive pedals, especially cheaper ones, kind of kill your tone- but I'm also kind of picky. That being said, I just got one of the Earthquake devices Plumes overdrive pedals, and I absolutely love it. It's about $100, but I got mine used for about $70. Its got 3 different settings on it, and the tone control on it is insane for such an affordable piece of gear. I highly recommend it if that's in your price range!
