News Update: New tools and converting our build

Today we wanted to discuss the progress on currently converting our build from Naninovel to Adventure Creator, and all the cool things that comes with! Since this was a much more extensive project than just simply converting scenes we've had to really rework how dialogue and objectives function within the game. This means that we've had to really try and rethink how we go about making the game, which has caused a lot of issues in itself but we believe all the problems will be worth it once the build is stable.

Here's a little list of stuff we're actively trying to get working:

-Ability to use items with pieces of environment for quests

-Inventory and quest items (functional but needs work to look good)

-Hovers with item descriptions

-Music playing between different areas and correctly switching when needed

-Main menu working with the brand new interface (we want it working pretty similarly to how it was before)



So far we've been able to get a lot of new concepts working using Adventure Creator. Stuff like the inventory system is built in luckily, but having it interact with the environment can be a bit tricky since based on each object in the game we'll have to figure out if they need unique interactions/dialogue and how that will play out. A big thing with older Point and Click Adventures is they really tried to make it so you'd want to poke and prod everything to find little bits of fun easter eggs/jokes. We're definitely going to be aiming for some surprises and funny things as you explore, but this is definitely a feature we're going to be really focused on expanding as we progress. In terms of the main reason we've had to update to this new tool with Saving/Loading, this we can confirm works perfectly and we're really focused on getting that working throughout. But we can guarantee now with the new way the games saving we can make absolutely sure all progress attained will be done exactly as it should be without the scene unloading!

Stuff that's currently working:

-New option input menu and interactions

-Save/Load system properly works

-Unity Scenes working correctly

-Cleaning items from environment correctly works and items that were removed will be remembered by the game

-Player can pick up specific items and use them in other environments

Features we're aiming for with updated build (spoilers):

-Shop interface with items to buy for characters

-Two new NSFW scenes

-Story Progression and brand new locations


That's about it for today, hope you guys enjoyed! We're actively working on getting the build functional but no current ETA just yet (we are hoping to have something playable before the end of next month hopefully). We have a lot more news/progress updates to show in the near future but wanted to give you guys a proper status update on where we're at.
