Jan Study #1 - Insights On Color

I have been putting a lot of time and brainpower into working on Sphynx and I realized there were quite a few things I was starting to hit a wall on. I took a breath, stepped back, and focused on a study. To be honest, I think it was really needed and I'm feeling much more confident in my next moves in my larger project.

Something I've always sorta fussed with when it comes to colors is how DULL skin tones can often look. I'm realizing (more so after this study) that I tended to do a lot of noodling in order to get the tones just right. It was a big time waster!

So my main focus for this study (and some upcoming ones) was to focus on getting the colors correct on the FIRST try and realizing what choices had ultimately led to those color decisions.

One of the most important things I picked up, and something I mostly just needed to be reminded of, is that colors speak to each other. Some hues can appear to be different on the canvas than it is on the color wheel when placed next to others!

I will be ever mindful of my color choices from now on - or at least until I realize I'm getting rusty again and am knocked down a few pegs. ;)

Great study! Thanks for reading - hope it helped you in some way to read my little insight!

This image will be available as a high res image and will be sent out with term 37! It will also include a high res process image as well!
