Jan Study #2 - Color Insights

We're back with another study!

In two separate studies I feel like I've already found some better footing. It's crazy when you think about it; it only took me two studies to find some more confidence. Sometimes it's as simple as that when you're drawing. Go into each session with an open mind that is ever observant and curious - you'll surprise yourself! That's my experience, anyway.

Going into this second portrait I worked quicker, more precisely, and made far less changes before arriving at the final result - unlike the first time! Part of me wants to add these portraits into my daily routine because they are quick and extremely enlightening!

In this piece I realized just how many different tones make up the skin. So many peaches, oranges, yellows, blacks, browns, red. Even purples and greens! It is so subtle in all of these portraits but I'm determined to find ways to incorporate more blues and more greens to give a truer-to-life appearance without creating a carbon copy of the image.
