Odds are if you're a hard-core web comic enthusiast, you've heard the name Hiveworks from time to time, if at all. They're a very respectable group that's just all about quality webcomics. Nytrinhia and I had discussed the possibility of putting together an application for them in the past, but open submissions are events that are pretty few and far between. In the meantime, we both agreed that working towards joining the network as a goal. Well! Submissions opened recently, of which Nytrinhia wasted no time letting me know about. I whipped up an application before I left for Christmas. I'm very happy and rather frightened to say that we've been contacted for an interview, which will occur this Saturday. It's a huge honor to be considered, but being accepted could mean a lot of really promising things for the future of this comic. For one thing, it's a lot more exposure, which would certainly help my Ultimate Goal: to do comics Full-Time. It also means that I would have to publish DotL exclusively on Hiveworks, so the archive on SmackJeeves would no longer be updated (but I already had some plans if it ever came to that). But it ALSO means that a huge buffer would be absolutely necessary so that I never miss an update - which will definitely help the "Update Twice a Week" goal as well. All in all, there are a lot of things that are going on with this, but for the moment I'll be focusing on the Interview itself. I'm very, very nervous and I'm not sure what to expect, but I'm certainly not expecting to be accepted. Hope for the best and prepare for the worst, that's my mantra. I'll be sure to give you guys updates as they come. In the meantime, I'll be holed up in my office.
