The Haunting of Hill House EP#5 REACTION!

It was very astute of you to compare Hill House to the Overlook. Stephen King is a big fan of Shirley Jackson who wrote the novel The Haunting of Hill House. You can see her influence on his work. When you read The Shining, at the beginning is a quote from THOHH including "whatever walks there, walks alone." Jackson's novel was a direct influence on The Shining and several other works of King's.

Every single scare in this show is built around the idea of trauma. The ghosts aren't dead people, but memories and guilt. Such a brilliant way to approach a show about "ghosts."

I just wanted to note that there are a couple Easter eggs from the 1963 film (“The Haunting”): 1) Russ Tamblyn from that film plays Nells therapist (his character’s name in the film is Luke by the way though the story is quite different), 2) the writing on the wall under the wallpaper is directly from the film (and probably the book as well).

This is the episode where everything begins to take a turn in revelations. All will be revealed to some degree or another. This show is very good at making the audience of diversity feel like their investment pays off. I can't wait to see your reaction to the absolutely flawless total of three cuts in the next episode.

Yeah that works, but the audio quality goes way down. Just trying to put forward options which would help improve viewing for patreons. It will basically be the exact same as before, the only difference is the viewers will have better audio when we watch along. But of course it is still CinemaRules choice, since they will have to do extra editing on their releases, even if it is just a bit of muting.

If i may,... in order to watch it right you have to mute your audio and bring your video up to speed with their audio. Works for me the best. It's like watching with friends 😉

I love your YouTube channel and decided to get your Patreon, just finished watching e3 of haunting of hill House with you guys. I just find it difficult to watch along (listening to your input about scenes) with you guys whilst there is the shows audio that your are listening to (that we can hear) as well as our own. I had to put your reaction audio on mute the entire episode since I couldn't hear what was happening on my end clearly. An example of what I'm talking about would be BrandonLikesMovies who also has a Patreon. He lets us watch the show on our end with our own audio and he mutes his own shows audio when he edits so we can't hear it so we can hear what he thinks about the show/movie we are watching (the reaction aspect).

Hey guys, I was wondering if there was a reason for not muting the shows audio. I thought we were supposed to watch along, but now we hear 2 different sound sources.

Ahh as soon I saw this was posted, I couldn't WAIT to get home from work to watch it. Love your reactions, as usual. The faces you guys make are classssic. This episode is a favorite - and #6 is definitely a technical masterpiece. But this episode just crushed me - Nelly is just such a heartbreaking character. I absolutely adore this show.
