The Descent: Part 2 (2009) MOVIE REACTION! FIRST TIME WATCHING!

Comments

This sequel sucks so much ass. The first one used darkness and claustrophobia so well. How do you mess up such a great setup? I guess we know...

Wow.....so we've officially reached the lowest rated film on the channel. I knew it would eventually happen.....you poor souls looked so deflated after this. Honestly, this sequel is just so lackluster and trite. Nothing of substance really. Also, I love that Juno has supposedly been fighting these monsters off alone for five straight days and the second she meets up with Sarah again, her pelvis gets turned into hamburger helper! Makes total sense! I saw this once and immediately forgot everything about it, except for the ending. What the shit even was that? I was probably going through the five stages of anger, trying to process what just happened. I agree with both of you on this. It's not the worst horror sequel, but it certainly isn't one of the best. It took inspiration from a ton of classic horror films, but all of the nods were severely half-assed. The creatures reveled in their scripted jump scares and their eerie uncanny valley way of moving was completely gone from this one. Every time one of them was stabbed in the head (....every 5.2 seconds.....), it was painstakingly obvious that it was immobile prop head. Wasn't convincing in the least. Shit.....I'm really tearing into this poor film. This isn't a glowing review (clearly), but I didn't hate it all that much. It just kinda (a little to my chagrin) exists. I just respect the first one so much that this one bums me out a bit. This one was just a blood SPURTING, noise MAKING, nail SCRAPING hot mess. Also, I think I need to break some news to the characters......this is difficult for me to say..........they have monster AIDS......terrible that they had to find out this way. In all seriousness, I appreciate you guys suffering through this. Oh....the trials of being a reaction channel. May we toast to many more inconsequential horror sequels down the road. Gonna need the whole damn bottle. Great reaction once again! It's seriously awesome that you both react and review with tact & maturity rather than childishly shit all over someone's hard work. Whether the film was decent or not, it's someone's vision and should be respected as such. Even though I'm not a fan of this installment, I still watch in awe at the dedication. They still put blood, sweat, and tears into the production and that's something to appreciate. If Hollywood wants another go and decides to do a third Descent film, I wouldn't be opposed. However, I'm much more excited for the possibility of Tom shaving his head and really dedicating himself to the monster role. Make the Descent film we all need! We believe in you!
