I'm a (half professional) singer and even though I love to sing in front of an audience, karaoke is as you say stressful. I always have to test the key i.e. desperatly listening to the song on spotify to check if it goes with my voice - can I reach the high notes, am I deep enough today - and there are no room for errors or "just" singing, so stressful is a good word to describe it.

God knows that once the whole season is done, we’ll all be gasping for a fix of more Young Royals related content as well as additional Heartstopper material. It’s a long wait for season 2 of Heartstopper, probably next late spring or summer if we’re lucky and if we do get season 3 of Young Royals, it could be at least a whole year away?

2022-11-14 16:34:56 +0000 UTCJackie, I also saw an interview recently with Lisa and Omar, in which she talked about how Edvin and Omar have room to improvise their intimate reactions to each other alongside the direction of the intimacy co-ordinator. I think you can definitely see and feel that in season two Omar in an article for Digitalspy talked about the implicit trust between him and Edvin after they had to learn that as they filmed season one. Now, they know that they have each other’s backs and feel safe together, having become close friends, he said that they feel that they can go even deeper with their characters’ physicality without fear. I feel really privileged that we are on the receiving end of such a special bond.

2022-11-14 12:02:19 +0000 UTCYeah, I agree that Simon doesn’t have anyone who really understands his feelings about Wilhelm and cute as his friends are, their way of supporting him is to push him towards someone who is convenient rather than helping him to heal his underlying feelings. I do think that Rosh and Ayub are a little underused as characters, though and they do provide a refreshing change from the attitudes and background of the rich boarders. Both Simon and Wilhelm are isolated in their unresolved emotions this season, but in different ways and with different coping mechanisms. Painful to watch, isn’t it?

Also just curious, how do you plan to react to the extra content? As in, once you've already finished the season? Or like an extra video here or there sprinkled in between episode reactions? If you haven't thought about it much yet, maybe you could upload an extra video or 2 in there between weekly videos, if or whenever you have the time? No pressure of course, only if/when you had the time & you felt like doing it :)

2022-11-14 01:02:28 +0000 UTCOmg, I just knew your review would be worth the wait, I didn’t binge this season, I managed to string it out over a whole week so I had time to digest everything before I moved onto the next one 😊 I totally agreed with your thoughts and I’m with Ruth, even just from seeing him in the 4 minute preview I didn’t like Markus instantly, I think there has been too much hurt and too many things unsaid between the boys for Simon to move on so quickly, yes, I know it’s a rebound, but its still not right. Wille has Felice to talk to about things but Simon has nobody, yes his friends, but they are just pushing him towards Markus when that’s not what he needs right now. I have to admit to feeling a wee bit sorry for August, just a wee bit, he did bring it all on himself but he does seem to be sorry for what he’s done and he seems to be also spiralling into a hole he can’t get himself out of. Malte is an excellent actor and is quite handsome 😊

2022-11-13 22:34:36 +0000 UTCWell, it was worth waiting for your reaction, as I said it would be. 🥰 I agree with just about everything you thought about this opening episode, but I must admit to taking an instant dislike to Markus. Can’t help myself, it just feels really uncomfortable and plain wrong to see Simon with someone else. (Trying to be reasonable about this and failing completely) It is a blinder of a first episode though, I agree. That really is a Heartstopper moment when Wilhelm and Simon see each other across the room at the party. Simon is hidden for a few moments rather like Nick being hidden from Charlie’s view when he enters the classroom after the Christmas holiday and is told he’s sitting next to Nick Nelson, so there’s that same feeling of time standing still for a moment and everyone else fading away. Great cinematography; lighting is fantastic in this scene. Wilhelm is definitely entering a tunnel of rage and despair, but I think in a way, he has to. He hasn’t yet fully owned how much he hurt Simon and that he betrayed him, so he perhaps needs to suffer, to feel something of what Simon felt and is still feeling in order to move towards redemption. But they still can’t help looking at each other and Edvin and Omar are so in tune with each other now and so immersed in their characters that we are able to feel their love for each other despite the apparent distance between them. Not giving up on them, they have a lot to work through though!

2022-11-13 22:24:57 +0000 UTCI’ve actually gone out and watched singers doing karaoke, and doing it brilliantly. I think it’s when it’s the singers’ idea to do it that it works the best. It is perfectly all right to admit that August is attractive because Malte is attractive (and is also quite impressive this season). Let’s face it, there are a lot of good-looking people on this show! And because sometimes the little details amuse me, I love that Simon has a Garfield pencil box. I don’t know why I find that fun, but I do.

I resonate so much with what you said about being a singer and people asking you to sing karaoke. Non-singers just show up and can decide to sing. I have to think about how my voice is feeling that day, do I feel hydrated enough, did I warm up enough to sing what I want to sing, etc. And that's on top of all the other stuff you mentioned about it being the right key and tempo. Way more stressful than people realize lol. Anyway, can't wait for the next reaction! Take care of yourself!
