Reacting To "Young Royals" - Episode 1

It's been one hell of a morning getting this beast of a video uploaded onto Vimeo but it's finally done. Hope you guys enjoy this first episode and I look forward to going on this Young Royals journey with you all! <3

Reacting To "Young Royals" - Episode 1

Comments

Finally catching up to your videos. I also was sickened by the spit drinking scene. It really grossed me out and made me look away in disgust. Total ick factor x10. I love Simon's family. It's interesting how they merge Spanish with Swedish in their speaking. You'll get more of that later down the road. Love both the young actors, Edwin and Omar. Both amazing actors. Actually the whole cast is just amazing. Felice right now may act all bitchy, but you'll find out why she acts that way. Felice's roommate is actually supposed to be American who is studying abroad. I believe she is Swedish but raised in America, so she can understand Swedish but doesn't want to speak it because she's embarassed by her accent when trying to speak Swedish (I think this is explained in later episodes). August, the 2nd cousin, is a character you'll hate to love. Malte, the actor who plays August, is just amazing though. Anna, Simon's sister, has one of the most interesting character arcs in this short series. Just amazed at how much time is given to develop her background and story. And yeah, the cliffhanger ending was just uber nasty. I was like....ugh, now I have to watch episode 2 right after. This whole story of Young Royals reminds me of a Shakespeare play, and I'm trying to remember which one.

I can still access the video that is on Vimeo. I don't think it's regional locked so you should be able to watch it on Patreon.

A bit of a non-fun fact here. I read an article somewhere about the behind-the-scenes filming of YR and Edvin said that during the fight scene at the party, he was actually hurt and suffered from concussion and was hospitalised for a short while. It's possible that when he was head-butted by one of the actors in the scene that their heads may have actually made contact, which of course was not meant to happen. Luckily it looks like no serious injury came out of it. I imagine H&S would have got into trouble for that.

That's so weird... the video definitely is still there. Can anyone check to see if this is the case for them?

Jackie-Ross Lavender

Or maybe I just can't access the videos since I just checked ep2 on Vimeo too. Says the content is either removed or I don't have access. 🙃

Shoot, looks like the video is gone. Was hoping to catch up on the unedited full reactions

Yesterday was a massive day for Heartstopper news. Any and all links are truly appreciated, and I doubt anyone here will object. 😊❤️👏👏

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-11239593/Heartstopper-announces-anticipated-second-series-production.html Have pasted this in the wrong spot earlier this evening so putting it here now hoping that if you haven’t picked it up already, this will gladden your heart. (Apologies to Young Royals fans as it’s not about that. )

You would have hated me when I was writing fanfics, I was always using cliff hangers and as my readers would say ‘throw a few spanner’s in as well’ 😂😂

Audrey Gunn

I was glad I’d finished my coffee by that point, otherwise I’d’ve had to get the carpets cleaned. Spit take avoided. 😂

The Homesick Brit

Your face crack at the end of the episode made me laugh out loud 😂 But, same here. I thought: Noooo, no cliffhanger 😭 I hate them 😆

Frances

I made the mistake of watching this and the initiation scene whilst making dinner 🤢🤢 this took forever to watch, not because of you but because my WiFi must be bad as it kept buffering every few minutes 😡 Anyway, I got there and it was well worth it, I also watched it with the dubbing because I can never focus on what’s going on in the background if I have to concentrate on reading the subtitles! I loved the way this episode ended, they certainly know how to keep you hooked. I don’t like August, he acts all nice but he is a first class a-hole as you will soon find out. I didn’t realise that Omar had an album, I’ll need to go looking for it. Looking forward to the next episode.

Also really interested in checking out Omar’s music. I got the Wasia Project’s (William Gao’s band) EP yesterday and it is DREAMY. I had no idea what to expect, but I’ve been listening to it on a loop. Really hoping they incorporate some of their music into s2 of Heartstopper. It would be amazing for some of Omar’s music to make it onto the YR soundtrack, as well. Such great, talented kids. Cheering them on across the board.

The Homesick Brit

I originally watched this with English dubbing. It was really well done. Found out later that almost all the characters did their own English dubbing, so the voices are authentic.

As far as I recall, we’re past all the gross-out stuff, so you can ease your mind about that. You’re right that it is a much darker show, and not even the people we like always behave admirably, as you can already see. But the performances are very strong. Edvin and Omar are both terrific, and so is Malte, who plays the hateful August. (He is sort of like Bash in being a really lovely person playing a really awful character.) And you’ve probably realized this by now, but they are speaking Swedish, not Norwegian. Also, the show and both Edvin and Omar have won awards.

Lane Wright

Omg, your face when they cut to the credits was just gold. 😂🤣😂 I really enjoyed this. I’ve tried to sit and watch it a couple of times on my own, but I think because of its darker tone and themes, I just wasn’t in a frame of mind to connect with it. Much more engaging watching along with someone else, so thank you for that. Looking forward to episode 2. I’ll do my damnedest not to give in and binge the rest of series one in the interim. 😊 Have a wonderful week. 🙏❤️

Thank you for taking this on. I know how much work goes into putting these up but I hope you won't delay too long between. I don't think there is much, if any, homophobia from the third-years (or anyone throughout the series) in the scene after the assembly in the church, the main part of the third-year's expressed disgust with Simon is related to classism, I think. The writers went to great lengths to show the extreme difference in class between the school and Simon's and Sara's home life. I particularly love the degree of detail included in this show. Note the music as Erik drives Wilhelm to the school, which ends abruptly as Erick slams the car door. I interpret that as indicating the end of Wilhelm's life outside of Hillerska Skolan. So many more throughout the series.

Damn it, I’m at work and won’t be home until tonight 🙁 something to look forward to!!

Aww, yay! Breakfast viewing sorted! ❤️👶🏼👑
