Reacting to Druck Episode 5

As you said, we kind of knew this was coming but wow it seemed to hit especially hard this time around. I was teenager in the late 70's with a family that was conservative and religious background so I can relate to that confusing and scary time.

oo yes I catch myself compering skam OG with druck a lot rewatching it with Jackie but they are very VERY different indeed and also feel like two seperate shows soo maybe I shouldn't compare this much, they are both in theire own ways amasing shows!!! Just love Druck because *without spoilering* I also never would have guessed it!!

It's really hard for me to compare it to SKAM OG because, as I said before, Druck feels as a different show with it's unique story. I kind of guessed what was going on in SKAM OG but I couldn't guess in Druck and that kept me interested. But I can't say much more. No spoilers! 😉

It’s true of most of the seasons of Skam and its remakes that everything seems to fall apart for the main character at the end of episode five, so this version is falling right in line with that. But as people have pointed out already, the specifics are noticeably different. Since the show is being told from the point of you of Matteo, we are left, just as confused as he is, and you have to have faith that all will be revealed eventually. The conversation between Mia and Hannah does make a bit more sense when you’ve watched the first two seasons, but it’s not essential for understanding what’s going on this season. I definitely understand what Matteo (and before him Isak) is dealing with, since, particularly given that I was a teenager in the early 70s, the only picture of gay people you got in the media was a stereotype that didn’t fit who I was in most ways. And that did lead to a lot of confusion, since there was no picture out there of someone attracted to the same sex, other than that of the broad stereotype. And since I grew up in a very conservative religious background, it wasn’t just confusing, but scary. Here, as in the OG, Hans says to Matteo exactly what he needs to hear, but I still can very much identify with Matteo.

Some comparisons In Skam OG Even is with Sonja and when Even breaks up with her he tells her about Isak. She then tells Emma who outs Isak. In Druck, David doesn't have a GF (which is why it's the only version we don't get the staring at each other while making out with gf's scene). So instead Sara says "or are you not into girls?" But it seems kinda out of nowhere. We actually find out in off air text messages that she had little suspicions because of how he doesn't like to be intimate but she just kinda threw that out there not expecting it to be the truth. She tells Leoni something like "I said he wasn't into girls and he just stood there and didn't deny it" In Skam OG Even and Isak have the locker room convo where Isak tells Even his mom is crazy and he doesn't want to deal with crazy people so he doesn't talk to her and we have see Even demeanor change but we don't figure out why until his manic episode. Later on I'm the episode Even sends him the text saying it's moving too fast. Then Isak sees him kissing Sonja at the party. In Druck we don't have that conversation where he calls his mom crazy. He just says it's difficult with her and David doesn't react much to it. And then once again since David doesn't have a GF we don't see him kissing anyone, instead Mateo tries to see him, but David's sister won't let him. Oh yes and that woman was David's sister who we met at the party in the last episode.

First of all, the girl at the door was David’s sister. I reckon Germany is very liberal. We’ve come quite far since 1945…However there is this party called AfD (translated would mean: alternative for Germany) which I would compare to the British Tory party. They are trying their way to get to the top. And especially in the eastern part of Germany, except for Berlin I’d say, they have a big amount of supporters. They are the worst: queerphobic, racist, and basically discriminating towards anybody who doesn’t think they way they do 👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽 the problem is that they’ve gained so many voters cause they are disappointed in the current government and how things were handled during and after the pandemic. So it’s kind of a protest against the government which is obviously a very ignorant and stupid way of protesting!! it is scary to think about how far they’ve come over the last couple of years but I still have hope that they won’t get to the top.
