I think Kit is one of my favorite minor characters, he's just on top of all of this shit

Marriage in that era was always to advance the status of both families. George would probably have to marry a woman that can advance the Villiers family and the woman's family would benefit from George's connection with the Royal Court. With Mary's acumen for scheming she probably already have someone in mind. I love this show ! The jump between the scene where George is almost killed and him being in bed with the King, makes sense. James has great affection for George and his love language is nurturing and comforting, as is clear from how both Somerset and George first gained his attention through their injuries. He would have been more concerned about George's well-being and would have dismissed his transgression as he did in the opening part of the scene. I do believe that George is developing deeper feelings for James, especially after his confession of a previous true love. We have to remember the George we first met, was an innocent young man believing that he was deeply in love with Jenny. That romantic side of George is still inside of him despite all the scheming and James' revelation of his deep love for another and the tragic loss of him, would have spoken to George and made him see a different side of James.

Honestly, I can’t get my head around it all!! I feel I like I’m watching chess with humans!! Absolutely superb acting and script ❤️💯 Though, I do get confused when they cut scenes out!! Maybe it’s me being thick 🤣

Normally, I wouldn’t have been likely to watch a historical type series but Nick is in it. Now I’m intrigued with the story and all of the characters. Thank You for a great reaction Jackie!

the relationship between George and James will never be a perfect love story because of the obvious facts surrounding it. But both Nicholas and the director have said that they did love each other. Nick described their relationship as just transactional at first and that it progressed into something genuine over time. a lot of his actions towards James especially starting in episode four are genuine but they will also always serve a bigger purpose. to some extent James also knows this he isn't dumb enough to just let himself be used completely. George would not be able to accomplish the things he does without knowing James intimately. most relationships in the 1600s were not for love but for a purpose so the fact that there are at least some genuine and tender moments between them is already more than most marriages had in those times.

Nicholas has said that James and George's relationship started off transactional, George had something to gain but the love they had was very genuine and the feelings were real. It's just very unconventional of course.

if you look it up, there are many letters that have been found between james and george that illustrates that there was real love and affection between the two of them (with james calling george his darling child and wife) - nicholas has also said in interviews that whilst georges love did start out as very transactional and a means for him for acquire power, that his feelings shifted into genuine love and care for james as time went on
