You may have seen on Alice's Instagram but it's the final week to vote for Queer Fan Favourite at this years Glaad awards!!!
Heartstopper is nominated as well as a couple of other shows/movies we have loved as a community so make sure you cast your votes!
All I will say is vote wisely... especially as we are still waiting for some of our favourites to be renewed for another season... 😉

Watching the characters grow and mature is also really important for younger viewers as the show moves towards more mature themes. It’s a veritable handbook on communication, consent, and generally how to handle uncomfortable and challenging situations in a healthy manner. And it’s just so beautifully scripted and acted as well. ❤️ But if there were multiple categories, then Young Royals (perfect final season and beautiful representation) and All of Us Strangers would have also had my vote.

2024-04-10 17:31:08 +0000 UTCI heard them with interviews with Taylor at Glaad event a couple of months ago on Instagram. They were first said by the interviewer and Taylor agreed. Also I’ve read them on a number of articles and reviews about the film - one was in the New York Times. The film was a sensation in China - when Taylor was there he was mobbed by fans. There are are Instagram pages in Arabic operated by fans in Saudi Arabia and Jordan - both countries with pretty intense anti gay laws. I am fluent in Arabic and my friends sent me links to these pages. I’m not naive- I know it’s not a good film on many levels but I’m fascinated how it had such wide acceptance in the world. In the end I think in the hallmark of great art in the cinema is when you have wonderful actors working with a poor script and somehow make it real. I am also a fan of the book and I agree it is not a very accurate representation of the work but a rather superficial adaptation of it. I struggled to vote for it because so many of the other project were superior to it but in the end it was the one that captured my heart the most.

2024-04-10 14:24:40 +0000 UTCFirst it was the number one movie on Amazon Prime for 2 weeks worldwide and it is the second most watched ROM COM on the site’s history. Second it was a sensation in many countries with anti LBGTQ laws and attitudes. Third in spite of many problems with the dialogue and script Nicholas and Taylor made the relationship between their characters seem real to many people who might of otherwise have shunned it. I’m aware of your misgivings about this film and I agree with you in many respects but in the end it was all about hope and love. It touched the hearts of millions of people. Jackie I love and respect your opinions and commentaries and I respect your opinion about this film- but please understand I’m a 70 year old gay guy who who craved to see just once a cheesie, kind of silly love story like this. Yes it might seem weird that I didn’t vote for a masterpiece like All of Us Strangers but in my heart of hearts I have to admit RW&RB touched me on a even greater level.
