Patreon Update - Oct 30th 2023

Goooood afternoon beautiful Patreon Family,

I have decided to move the weekly Patreon update to Monday... it just feels like it makes more sense to start the week with an update! Especially as Monday is my admin day.

I hope you all had an amazing week last week. It was a busy one for me. Things are really starting to get very busy as I start to tie things in a bow ready for the move back down south. I will be starting to move things from the middle of next month... it's coming around quick and I am very excited!

As you know I had a wonderful day on Saturday filming content with Courtney-Jai! It was so wonderful to finally meet in person after over a year of chatting online and it felt like we'd known eachother for years. We have a couple of exciting videos for each of our channels/patreons! We are also planning another few days where we can get together to react to Bad Buddy!

This week the last episode of Heartbreak High will go live (😭) and then by the end of next week we will have finished Druck too (😭😭😭) so we need to open up that conversation yet again... what would you like to see next here on the channel?

Next - some housekeeping:

This week I noticed that people still had access to the discord server after cancelling their Patreon membership and while I want to encourage community I am also conscious of making sure those who are paying for memberships are receiving the benefits they deserve. As such please note moving forward your access to the discord server will end the day your Patreon membership ends.

Free memberships - This past week Patreon added a free membership option to channels... please note that even though it is an option on this channel there will be no free content on Patreon.

Lastly - just a huge thank you to you all for the on-going love and support. Patreon/YouTube are now my sole income streams as I want to focus all my energy into these endeavours this coming year and every single one of you being here means the world.

Love, always ♥️

Jackie - are you aware of the French gay 2016 movie called 'HIDDEN KISSES'? The plot concerns the relationship between the two (very good looking I might add) students and the involvement of their families. I thought that you might have an affinity towards that storyline so I'm hoping that you may wish to add this particular film to your list for reviewing.

Michael

Such a beautiful story! All of the music is wonderful but I love “Sunday” with so many Broadway Icons taking part in the number. I’ve shared the video on my Facebook page from time to time on Sunday mornings

Diane Furlong

I’ve seen Andrew explain how it came about and it’s so cute. He was determined to land that role.

Diane Furlong

I am going to post a video Andrew Garfield explaining how he got the role on the discord…

Erin

That‘s a wonderfull idea 🤩

Wiebke Kempa

I've just looked this up and it looks bloody brilliant. I will definitely be adding this to the list! I have a couple of queer movies I want to react to so maybe we will start doing a queer movie of the month or something!

Jackie-Ross Lavender

There is a Dutch film called „Jongens“ (Boys) that I love very much. It‘s only available in Dutch with subtitles, but since they don‘t talk that much, it‘s still easy to watch. I‘ve never seen anyone react to it and I would love to see that!

Wiebke Kempa

I would love to see some lesbian and trans representation and see you react to the reboot of The LWord- Generation Q. 2 seasons and I loved it

Beach gurl Bi

This is a good show, but quite bleak.

Beach gurl Bi

Would love for you to react to the Interview with the Vampire tv series. It is brilliantly dark, camp and oh so gay.

Beach gurl Bi

Yes I have Ingrid. In fact I may have seen that first which drew my attention to the full movie.

Michael

I adore TTB! It BROKE me when I first watched it and I couldn't watch it since. I would love to react to that for the channel!

Jackie-Ross Lavender

Love Tick Tick Boom!! Lin Manuel Miranda created an excellent film. Andrew Garfield learned to sing and to play the piano for this role

Diane Furlong

I recommend It’s a Sin, if you haven’t already seen it. Totally different from Queer As Folk and a very different tone, too. It’s grim but also somehow uplifting at the same time and the acting is phenomenal.

Graham & Ruth May

Have you seen the short YT film in which the film is based on?

Ingrid Machado Pena

I know one on my watch list is High School adapted from Tegan and Sara’s autobiography, haven’t seen it yet so I can’t say if it would be good. But you know I’m gonna watch whatever you throw at us! ☺️

Darcy Bandaru

I agree with @Kong Chang above, you should definitely continue to check out the Thai BL series. Some incredible ones in my opinion are Moonlight Chicken, A Tale of a Thousand Stars, and Cutiepie :)

Megan Brady

yes Ingrid, it certainly is. It's nice to see a slightly different approach to the usual 'coming of age' gay storylines (no spoilers here).

Michael

Agreed but so well done

Diane Furlong

I have to agree with a lot of shows that have been mentioned but I would really love to see you react to Its A Sin, it only has 5 episodes so wouldn't take too long to do.

Audrey Gunn

So do I Diane🤗 The ending broke me 😭

Tina Stellato

You’re not alone regarding the re- watching

Diane Furlong

Love, My Policeman

Diane Furlong

There's a whole slew of BL drama from Thailand that have really great stories, and character development. And all the guys are gorgeous.

Kong Chang

I Nth agree...Fellow Travellers would be an awesome next series to react to. It's on Showtime here in the states, unsure if it will air on anything else outside of the states.

Kong Chang

Michael - I am glad to know you have seen it already and enjoyed it. It's lovely, isn't it?

Ingrid Machado Pena

Prisma on Amazon Prime is a good series. It's an Italian series about twins one of them is struggling with his sexuality and gender identity it was renewed for a second season. Also I would love you to react to series 4 of Skam og.

Jayne Riley

Its scheduled in but won't be until some of the current series have subsided as currently doing 3 series plus an exclusive a week so don't have the capacity to add a movie in too.

Jackie-Ross Lavender

Jackie - you did say when you replied to my DM that you would try and start to review before the end of this month (October) Ingrid's and my suggestion of that beautiful Brazilian film called 'THE WAY HE LOOKS'. Really hope you will be able to fit that one in for us.

Michael

- normal people is such an interesting show that i simultaneously thoroughly enjoyed and cried my eyes out at - if you can somehow find a way to react to bottoms i think you should - its a hilarious and camp lesbian movie that came out this year - the last of us was an amazing adaptation of the video game, really loved

Olivia

I am very happy to support you and all the wonderful things you do! I would be interested to see your reaction to Tick, Tick Boom...

Erin

Nimona movie would be great to see you react to. It’s slipped past lots of people’s radar, but it’s one of the most interesting pieces of LGBTQ+ media out in the past year. I think people under rate it because it’s animated.

Emily Brown

I will forever and always recommend by favorite series, Schitt's Creek and the best thing I watched this year, The Last of Us. I second the Fellow Travelers mention and Single All the Way is a really cute movie for a fun holiday watch.

jennifer

Yes, yes and yes. The first episode was very good.

jennifer

Is there a book???? Ok, I need to purchase it too! 🙂

Ingrid Machado Pena

Normal People is so beautiful!!!! Heartbreaking but beautiful - I purchased the book but haven’t started reading yet. There’s a fanfic on AO3 that is based on Normal People but with Nick and Charlie. I would also love reactions to Schitt’s Creek and Sex Education.

Laura Ibarra

Good morning sunshine, is it possible to react to (both series on Netflix) Elite and Everything Now (a new series recommended by Alice). A movie on Amazon prime is My Policeman (the ending is so sad 😭). I can’t wait to see what you two created 🤞😘

Tina Stellato

I’m waiting for all the episodes to be out, so I can do a 7-day trial and then binge watch them all. 🙈😂

Sam S

I just love Carlos Cuervas and Miki Parbe’s chemistry in this limited series. I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve (re-)watched it already.

Sam S

Yes! Smiley, one of my favs too!

Joe Lancaster

Yes that first episode was really good!

Joe Lancaster

fellow travellers is a show premiering weekly which could be good to react to - first episode was amazing so show looks very promising

Olivia

Oh YES! Smiley is one of my favorites

Diane Furlong

Yeah! Smiley is great!

Ingrid Machado Pena

Smiley 🙂!!!

Sam S

Oh Christmas movies! Yes! See also: Dashing in December (my fav!), Happiest Season, or The Christmas Setup. Also The Christmas House (though that’s a side plot for the same-sex couple).

Michelle K

It's hard to choose anything. Sooo many good things out there. To be honest I haven't been excited to watch reactions to new content. I would say I am more into things that I have already seen and would love to know other people's take on it. Schitt's Creek, Sex Education, The Way He Looks (a brazilian film), It's a sin... I am watching Normal People now and it's not queer but it's a beautiful story so far. I guess whatever the community decides. =)

Ingrid Machado Pena

I would recommend In the Flesh. If you haven’t already seen it; it aired 2013/2014 (on BBC? Maybe? it’s a UK show). It’s incredibly well written and acted, and is a stunning commentary on many social issues. It’s also very short, only nine total episodes over two seasons. Not sure how many people would be into it, but I love it and have watched it probably 10 times at this point. I also don’t think I’ve seen any other channels watch it. If that makes a difference for you. But there’s a lot to talk about with it.

Michelle K

I’m following Queer as Folk on another channel. It’s quite an adventure.

Diane Furlong

Yes it’s just a sweet Love story. It doesn’t hurt that Luke MacFarlane is in it either.

Diane Furlong

Can't wait to see what you filmed with Courtney, two of my faves together 😍 wishing you lots of luck with the move!

Louise Poole 🍂

Yes I really enjoyed Single All the Way! I love that it doesn't make a big deal of the protagonists being gay, its just your classic cheesy rom-com Christmas movie 🎄

Louise Poole 🍂

It would be a fun one in the lead up to Christmas perhaps… 👍🏻👍🏻 I really love this sweet, almost-saccharine festive romcom so much. Although I know Jackie prefers series to movies mostly.

Sam S

Thank you for all the work you put into making videos for us to enjoy! One show you might consider reacting to is “Special” on Netflix. It was created by and stars Ryan O’Connell as a young gay man with cerebral palsy. It is funny and touching as well, and it also has the benefit of relatively short episodes. It only ran for two seasons of eight episodes each, so it’s not a particularly long commitment.

Lane Wright

I know I mentioned it on Discord, but perhaps watching Good Omens with the lens of it being an Aro/Ace love story (as confirmed by Neil Gaiman in 2019). It might be a fun change of pace to do something from the fantasy genre…

Sam S

Schitts Creek? That would be wonderful. Especially season 3. Sex Education would also be great, although I was slightly disappointed in the final season. Seasons 1-3 were pretty good though. It’s A Sin is fantastic and although I thought Queer As Folk was groundbreaking, I think It’s A Sin is even better. x❤️

Graham & Ruth May

Hi Jackie, “Fellow Travelers “ has just started but it’s looking like there’s excellent potential. Have you seen “Single All the Way”? I just finished watching it again today. It might be fun as we get closer to Christmas.
