another thing I find really sick about what August does is that he does it to get back at WILLE who embarrassed him in front of his group. He does it to hurt Wille but it’s not Willes face that’s visible in that video it’s SIMONS and he didn’t even spare a thought to how it would affect him.

2024-03-03 22:56:44 +0000 UTCThis episode always bothers me because I always see people talking about the classroom scene and how Wille thinks his family is more important and how awful it is that he is asking Simon to take the fall. I always see that scene differently. Wille has no experience dealing with bad situations and to me it always seems like he is looking for some guidance/feedback/discussion with Simon to deal with this situation. I feel like Simon sees the scene the same way most people do. Like Wille is not taking his feelings/life seriously. I always feel like Wille is panicking and not expressing himself well but ultimately wants a solution that is best case scenario for both him and Simon.

Anyway, I agree with some others in perceiving it as Wille deliberately helping to get August’s tuition paid, which ought to make August feel guiltier than it apparently does. I do find myself wondering if Lisa put in the scene with the fish in this episode already knowing that she was going to write the scene with Marcus and the fish, or if it was just a happy accident. I would like to think that it was all planned in advance, because it’s handled so subtly.

2024-03-02 02:51:48 +0000 UTCNo, Jackie, I can't say I know for certain but it's my impression that Wille contacting the Royal Court was for the distinct purpose of solving August's financial problems. Or at least bringing the problem to the Royal Court's attention. (Schooling in Sweden is free through high school but August couldn't pay for room and board.) And, if you remember, August thanks Wille later for intervening.

For him, they don’t have names. I remember thinking then (and many other times, too) that the elegant economy of the writing in this series is something completely special.

I want to know if the TV microscope articles on substack are right in their theories. A lot of them look right based on what I have seen so far. I'm glad we get watch it with you so we can prolong the experience.
