Reacting to Interview with the Vampire Season 1 - Episode 2

Pretty sure I had the same reaction as you Jackie when they brought out the Rüppell's fox, when I watched this the first time. I'm enjoying your reactions to this series!

I am very much enjoying your reactions sir… This is interesting for me having read the book (many moons ago) and having seen the movie several times, I know the basic story, and am interested to see what other changes are made.

I was so excited for episode 2, glad you're enjoying it! When you said you were a theater kid I got even MORE excited for you to get to Season 2! And overall this show has a lot of crossover with theater within the cast and crew which really makes this show so perfectly dramatic, like there are playwrights involved with this script and some really amazing theater actors who come to take the performances in this show to another level. Louis' race change having a real impact on the storyline is soooo important to me (especially since the Louis in the books owned a plantation and slaves which???), because it would've been really easy for the show to go the Bridgerton route for example and say "eh its a fantasy show, these are vampires, we can just pretend the racism and homophobia and classism just weren't a thing" (which can be perfectly fine) but they really did their research all around and it only enriches the story imo. It's all so in-depth and well researched (even down to Louis himself being more privileged than others in his community because he himself is lightskin), I could cry. I'd definitely keep the potential dubious nature of their relationship dynamic in the back of your mind while watching lol This is a show that (like Game of Thrones actually) constantly keeps viewers theorizing and discussing the questions of morality posed. To some people, these characters are vampires, not human and thus do things that can be perceived as beyond the realm of human judgment. But on the other hand, they all once were human and even their most base instinct (to feed) is found in humans so why not hold them to similar standards? Other comment already said it, but yes vampires only turn someone if they drain them and then feed them their blood. It is possible for vampires to just feed on humans, in episode 1, Louis said Lestat called it "un petit coup", the "little drink". It's what they did when they first hooked up lol It just takes a lot of self control which is why I think vampires tend to just drain and kill their victims completely more often than not. But Louis said here that he hasn't killed since 2000, so he's had plenty of time to develop that control.

Okay now that makes sense!!! I was very confused 😂

in order to become a vampire you have to drain the person to the point before death then feed them your blood, only partially drinking from someone won’t turn them but the person will be slightly dizzy etc from the blood loss - absolutely loving the reactions so far and your blood analogy is very apt for how the show continues in its storytelling!! ❤️
