I think they both get caught up in their egos but Light is a little more earnest ( albeit not in public ) -- tho, arguably, it's the same with L. I don't imagine L speaks to the outside world the way he would in private or with Watari alone. L's also much older so his naivety isn't there whereas Light is quite idealistic... but it really just comes down to their egos clashing. Justice is irrelevant. Ah, I'm enjoying this!
