Eh, I personally don’t think it counts what anyone says if it’s not in the actual story. The story leaves it as a mystery. But we can be reasonably sure from the restaurant scene in season two that Gretchen didn’t cheat on Walt or leave him for Elliot.

In 2016, Vince Gilligan finally revealed the true reason for why Walter left Gray Matter. He revealed that Walt left Gretchen and Gray Matter because he felt inferior to her and her wealthy family, thus confirming that his ego and pride were the reasons why.

At first we thought she had cheated on him, but then the way she reacted made us think otherwise....maybe Walter's life/lack on confidence made him leave because he felt like a third wheel....but then again I don't know, it would've had to be big for him to sell out like that :/

Yeah that was the general feeling we had back when they were supposed to be paying his treatment :/ a lot of people on YouTube were saying it wasn't about that, but I think it's legit

its pretty obvious what happened between Walt, Gretchen and Elliot. We know that Walt and Gretchen used to be a couple so clearly when Gretchen and Elliot got together Walt felt awkward about the whole situation so he left and took a buyout as he said.

i think the song Walt is whistling is called "lilly of the valley" which is also the name of the flower Walt used to poison Brock
