Chuck knows Jimmy is and has always been a narcissists, but he got weak and didn't send him to jail. The fact that Jimmy won't give up the law is more proof of his narcissism. He doesn't want Chucks love, he wants to show Chuck he can do what Chuck spent his life and hard work trying to achieve he could do without all the rule following which he sees as butt kissing. And as to say I'm better than you.
