Early Access Video: Chair Bending in the Home Shop

Friends:

Rob and I are back at it! Today, we're bending the rear posts for the Alexander Chair. We're using the steam box, the kiln, the Veritas Tenon-Cutter and many other fun contraptions. Like so many projects, this has been moving slow but it's picking up steam as we close in on the end.

As a reminder, my shop is getting a partial new roof next week and it's unlikely that I'll be able to make any content. We're probably going to end up taking a week "off" from video (and we'll do a million other things instead). The Shaker Table Build-Along and other videos will resume in a week. I hope.

Happy Saturday!

Loved it as always! You guys rock!

I am really enjoying this video series and the Shaker table build along. Thank you Rex and Rob.

Matt Evans-Koch

Loving every part of it. More details are always welcome!

I may never build a chair but I am enjoying the series. A suggestion... Don't "act" like you don't already know the answer when you question Rob.

Does the Iron "C" clamp leave a black mark on the hot wet wood?

When you finish the other seven chairs for that dinner party in 2031 send me an invitation. I’ll bring a salad.

Richard C von Brecht

Very nice. Puts things in perspective when people complain about the high cost of custom furniture. Just the amount of time let alone the cost of materials still amazes me even after watching hundreds of wood working build videos.

Dave West

I remember when you broke the driveway off loading the log from the truck but what I’ve wondered is what did you build with the logs you picked up on the side of the road? The parts for the chair are starting to look like chair parts.
