New one-shot short story: Natural Conducters

This is the promised companion piece for the new Triptych chapter. It takes place at just about the same time as that chapter, and -- that's been planned for a while. Trying to execute the story postings as a simulcast was my more recent horrible mistake.
It's nearly 12k on the word count, and that was done all in one day. Which means that reading it is going to take a while, along with reading that chapter, and... maybe I'd better find something to do for the next two hours before reasonably expecting any screaming to start.
It may get loud up in here...
