Just 5600 words this time -- but I hit one of those natural breaks where continuing the chapter would have been its own crime. This was about having Cerea and Emery on the same stage for a while, and beginning to establish something about what the training is going to involve. Once each has an initial (and not necessarily final) sense of the other, we've reached the chapter's natural conclusion. So for now, we leave our trainee to her rest.

Next up? I've been pondering the idea of peeking in on Scootaloo. The end of Duet placed her on the Acres, and -- she's never had a focus story. The closest we came was seeing her through Snowflake's eyes, and that's still viewing her at one-remove. It may be time for the camera to move directly with her, because she's just been through a major upheaval in her life, people have been waiting for some of the implications to sink in, and... she's just never been the main character before.

So maybe it's time she had a one-shot.

As a sequel. To a sequel. Which eliminates -- 90% of the prospective audience?
