New one-shot story: Resident Weevil

This is how a writer's mind works.

I found flour weevils in my kitchen.  I was not happy about this.  I have been having an emotionally rough month and I didn't need a full six hours of scrubbing and throwing away ruined goods.  It's been almost impossible to write as-is, and now there were weevils.

But do you know what can clear out the creative pipes, when you're feeling emotionally blocked?

Nothing hits the spot like a crackfic.

So last night had me start with weevils in my kitchen.  About twenty-seven hours after that horrible discovery, the process ended with 9200 E-rated words in the New column and Rarity on trial.  Because apparently that is what it takes to put a dent in an emotional block:  the chance (and risk) of grossing out the entire site.

Conclusion:  writers are weird.

But you knew that.

(I hope.)

I lost around $40 in food. They seem to have started in a box of dog treats which I keep around for a neighbor's pit bull: that had the largest portion of the swarm. But from there, they made it into most of the pasta boxes in that area, along with some couscous, a couple of mixes... I just had too much flour-based product in the vicinity, and I paid for it. Several hours of scrubbing and emptying out everything around the area was also required. However, the actual baking flour was safe inside a glass jar, and the same was true for my rice: total damage could have been a lot worse.

Did they get in a lot of different stuff? At least it broke the isolation monotony I guess.
