New one-shot story: Out Of Commission

Sometimes, the only thing you can do with a plot bunny is let it breed and give it a nice place to raise the kids.

This is a somewhat personal piece.  I try not to use Rarity as my crutch character (because she is just so easy to fall back on) -- but when it comes to some of my own feelings about anything artistic, hers is the easiest voice to hear.  And in this case, a portion echoes my own awkwardness when it comes to accepting...  well...  just about anything, really.  I've been called out a few times for having something close to Twilight's case of Imposter Syndrome, and...

I can save up for a nice dinner and, within the budget I've created, order something decent.  But if someone takes me out to eat, as their treat?  Hello, Cheapest Thing On The Menu Which I May Actually Be Able To Swallow.  I've always had trouble with receiving gifts and yes, I know that can sound more than a little comedic for someone with a Patreon and Ko-fi both.  Let's just say there are times when I have Guilt.  Capital G, with an option to go CapsLock later.

What am I giving back?  Stories.  And there are times when I'm not sure that's enough.

So 8500 words of semi-captured emotional awkwardness.  Because Rarity.

There's a pandemic raging across the planet.  I keep waiting for the FIMFic notice which says we've lost someone.  'Interesting times' becomes more of a deliberate understatement by the day.  And what can I do in and about all this?

Write a story where, if I'm lucky, reading means you won't think about any of it for fifteen minutes.

...I could say something about 'should have majored in microbiology', but just try finding someone who actually believes in science.
