New one-shot story: The Waiting Doom II: PinkieCare

I’m not completely sure this one qualifies as a comedy.

As mentioned in the ending Author’s Note, this one was written entirely in the hospital, over the course of two days.  The first one was spent waiting to speak with a doctor, and that failed to produce a personal meeting because apparently my mobile network hates me or I need a new phone.  Possibly both.  And today, I was informed of a surprise discharge:  something completely sprung on me because I’d been told this was probably going to be a five-day hospital stay and we’re still short of that.  Plus no one’s actually diagnosed the problem and she’s still sick.  But they’re discharging her to physical rehab anyway, because.

When?  Today.  More specific?  As of this writing, I’m still in the hospital.  But the rough estimate was half an hour ago.  I expect this differential to increase.  By a lot.  Assuming she wasn’t discharged and no one could be bothered to tell me, which happens.  Also a lot.

So this isn’t really 13000 words’ worth of comedy.  It’s probably more of a semi-dark, definitively-understated revenge fantasy.

I’d tell the hospital about it, but they would just add it to the bill.
