7900 words on this chapter, and we are getting closer to Departure For The Land Of Adventure (And Probably Trauma). There are times when I worry about this one being a slow starter -- and worse than Triptych was in that regard -- but there's a lot to set up.
We're not just dropping them into a nightmare which they're not prepared for. We're dropping them into a nightmare which they're trying to prepare for. There are ways where that's worse.
It means placing a lot of dominoes. And in this case, one of them represents exactly how seriously the palace is taking the matter.
