On the one hand, I shouldn't try to write 8900 words when I'm sick.
On the other, I was pretty much out of time for getting better.
(No fever. Sore throat, light intermittent coughing, slightly runny nose. I am not in panic mode yet, and I am still convinced that if I go outside without a mask, I will kill someone.)
Every longform story has at least one chapter or scene which I'm just afraid to write, mostly from fears that I'll screw it up. For DELWMG, this was One Of Those Chapters. It's the accumulation of something we've been building towards for a while. Two somethings. It's loud, it's angry, and it is going to echo for a while.
It's also a good way to close out September.
Forget the sore throat. I need a week for my writing voice to recover...
(Because I lost a lot of time this month with various issues -- car, legal papers, and family-related travel -- I am now hoping to get the paperback announcement up around 10/7.) (Cross 'em if you want to. Couldn't hurt.)
