I've been darkly joking about it in the Discord server, during those times when we're not all being tortured by advent calendars. It's this coming weekend, and I could go.
...and not talk to anyone, because emotional reruns.
...and risk picking up covid. (I got my booster on the 6th.)
...and drive eight hours in order to attend for one day. Eight hours. Each way. So sixteen hours of driving and hoping the car didn't break down. And it's all in one day because I cannot try for a hotel.
...and between fuel costs, travel expenses, tolls, and the admission fee, spending about $320 just to get in the door. (It would have been over $400, but I found a minimal-toll route. Do not ask about flights. They're worse. There are no trains.)
...and then sit very quietly in a panel audience or three while hoping not to get sick, followed by silently walking around Huckster Hall and spending nothing because I already blew about $320 just to get there.
...yeah.
If that sounds like the subject for a fun post-recovery blog to anyone, you know where my Ko-Fi is.
(I know. It's just that my wanderlust has been through the roof for -- a long time. I recognize that it's misdirected and I can be miserable at home for a lot less. But I keep thinking about it. Stupidly.)
...anyway, 6266 words on the new chapter as of this posting. And I'm mentioning the exact count because it has a triple-6 in it.
